I was sent home 3 times while in labor. Worst pain of my life and i was dilated only 3cm. After 5 hours of screaming they finally let me stay while again… only being 3cm. The nurse on duty, while leaving, said i was screaming all night and just to finally admit me. That was the bad part. However, after finally getting in, the nurses were amazing. Epidural was godly. And it was a room full of woman who helped me give birth. I’ve never felt more safe. The doctor who sewed me up even said “she’s so numb she’s not feeling nothing I’m doing down here” and she was right. However, after the birth i could not walk or get up. The MOST HORRIBLE pain of my life, i would have chosen the birth pain over this type. They refused pain treatment and gave me a Tylenol. If a man walked in with a torn scrotum and pushed a watermelon out of his ass I’m sure more would have been done.

They truly do not care about their patients at this hospital. I've gone several times to Family Medicine, Pediatrician, OB/GYN, Optometry, and ER. The only good experience I had here was with the midwives during labor and delivery. But of course could not get in for any post-partum care. Good luck getting an appointment anywhere sooner than three months from now, no matter how severe your issue is. I guess I should have made my daughter's two month checkup appointment when I was still pregnant with her, because they couldn't put her anywhere on the schedule (I called one month in advance). I'm glad I found another Pediatric clinic because Madigan said they would call me back to get her scheduled and never did. Family medicine NEVER answers their phone, and I couldn't get an answer back from them via the portal either. I had to physically go into the clinic to schedule an appointment (two months out of course). The receptionists are nice but they are powerless to improve the system. They are understaffed, inefficient, and apathetic. Avoid the pharmacy like the plague unless you enjoy waiting in the lobby for hours. You need a law degree to work the referral system. I'm so glad my husband is getting out of the army soon and we will be free of this dumpster fire hospital.

Although the staff I met during my visit were very kind, I feel I was not listened to or cared for. I went to the ER for excruciating pain going down my leg. I knew it was from my sciatic nerve but it was the worst it’s ever been. They asked my pain level and I said it was an 8 out of 10 knowing it was not completely debilitating me because I walked in and out of the hospital and I didn’t have incontinence, but the pain was unbearable. I walked in the hospital having to stop a few times bc it hurt so bad. They prescribed another drug and sent me on my way. No scans, no X-rays, just drugs. How is this quality care? I cannot wait to leave this base and hospital. Healthcare in WA is a joke.

If you can avoid going to this hospital do so, you will wait over 6 hours at minimum to be seen at the ER even though you're in so much pain. My son got his blood glucose checked by someone who wasn't prepared, imagine missing so many times because the staff didn't have extra blood glucose test strips on her, she kept saying oh crap and panicking in front of a 5 year old which in turn made my child cry, she was shaking, she had to poke him twice and would've poked him three times if I hadn't interfered and helped the struggling staff to get a sample. Go to allenmore hospital, they got way better staff there. Even getting seen my your primary doctor is a nightmare, severely understaffed and the ones who work there act like they hate interacting with patients.

Abundant specialists and clinic opportunities. Getting a referral to them is the challenge. You have to go through your gatekeeper (Primary Care Management/provider) who acts like the key masters?
Why one would have to advocate to be seen at a specialist clinic is beyond my understanding as this delays treatment and recovery time.

Well freakin done with my care. I came in having an ectopic pregnancy and from the time I walked into the door I got amazing care. From the intake nurse who constantly checked on me in the beginning and I hate I forgot her name. To Dr. Clarke, the ultrasound tech, Dr. Shaw, OBYN, Dr. Locke, Nurse cousins…all of y’all were amazing and changed my view of care at Madigan Hospital. I’ve had previous miscarriages and bad experience at Madigan but this one made me happy. Thank you to my whole team who did my surgery. So grateful.
